In this video The Unabiker presents a thorough follow up to his detailed initial exam of the NTN bearing externals (previously posted) which noted all visible information, and clues to what might have happened to lay waste to the victim (known as NTN 6805LLB). This time however we go inside the deceased to see what’s what. We already know the perpetrator (c’est moi), but we need to find out what killed NTN 6805LLB. Hopefully, doing so will prevent the brute from killing off more bits of the Yoeleo / Hambini alliance. Also, as an extra special treat, a new and improved world’s best unboxing video! Check it out! Thanks for watching, and good riding. 0:00 bearings on display 0:39 bearing codes explained 3:50 how to ID a bearing by looking at it 5:02 how to open the bearing; remove seals 6:10 how do seals work? 7:02 a look inside 7:56 what differentiates a contact seal from a non-contact seal? 10:05 the bearing cage 11:12 how are bearings assembled? 13:17 what might have killed the bearing? (the title to this segment in the vdo is a hypothesis, but please see the epitaph noted below) Epitaph: In this vdo I hypothesize that it might have been the ovality of the frame bore compressing the Hambini BB enough to deform the bearing slightly, but it would require Mr Hambini to verify that his alloy bb shell (AL 7075?) could be deformed by my rough treatment given during the first flawed install attempt. I think with the sort of load put on by a rider that this is impossible. The material properties of either AL6061 or 7075 allow greater forces than that. A more likely death blow to the NDS bearing was simply the force I put on the thing when I first tried to install it. Any of that force born by the inner bearing race would certainly fuck the bearing totally. In a soon to be posted video, after researching about bearing fit specs, types of fit, and what happens if not fit correctly for the specific types of mating components, I propose what I believe to be the root cause of the bearing failure. You can check that out to see if you agree.
