Recorded on 01 December 2024, Sunday night. Speaking about an online community that makes me feel seen, and not part of a problem that I did not create. It's just for fun and for advice and sharing stories. 🌺🌺I left a note in the comment section that where I mention phenotypes in the video, I am referencing what I've seen in the Black Community. Forgot to make that clear. There are obviously different phenotypes, not everyone will look alike. But beauty is worldwide and special. And not up for debate when it comes to how you feel about yourself. 😘💖- 05 Dec. Hopefully this space boosts the self esteem of those who do not feel good about themselves without them feeling they are above others. We all have the same potential in God's eyes. Also: Just like it is colorist to say someone is pretty for being dark skin or light skin, it is also colorist to say someone is not pretty just because they have light skin. How do people not get that? And Latinos/Latinas and Hispanic people are not a race, but they are literally one of the most well known groups of people who have very particular cultures and languages with diverse ethnic backgrounds. Will never not recognize the distinct difference. 💖🌈 1. EXOTICALS or Preferences: a random term used by women of the Black Community, predominantly online, to reference women who are Not Black or who are Mixed with Black or who are light skin Black (monoracial or MGM), who tended to be the women that Black men, celebrity or regular man, sought to date over other Black women. Sometimes even "preferred" over dark skin Black women. This is from the point of view of women who are most interested in dating Black men, but may observe that Black men seem to date everyone else but them. 2. EXOTICALS: The slang term for an online community of women that reclaimed the word and used it to find a community of women who "looked like" them and/or felt like them. Feeling othered by Black spaces online and sometimes in real life, even though they have Black or African DNA too. This includes Light skin Black women, Light skin Mixed, Biracial and Multigenerationally Mixed women, and brown and dark skin Mixed women. These women may have benefited from -isms just based on the way they look to others. But can also experience colorism and Racism as well. Exoticals can also be Afro-Latinas/Latinas and from other racial groups as well, but most currently online are of African descent with and without other Mixes. 💖 Mentions: Raven Elyse, Cydnee Black, Meghan Markle and her mom.
