I love seeing farm stands popping up all over! It’s what inspired me to start mine ❤️ But it’s not as simple or easy as it looks. Just because we bake and set our items doesn’t mean they will sell. You can get there for sure! But there are some basic steps that need to be done first before you hit the go button. At least, I wish I would have done it this way… 1. Market, market, market!!!! Use community forums, local fb groups, coffee shop boards, etc. Spread the word! Show up at markets, drop off samples, do whatever works best for your community. Hype up your opening day, have some fun offerings or even specials just to get people in the door. Farm stands are unique as unlike a brick and mortar they are located on private property. So it spreads by you and words of mouth. Get this part started as as soon as possible! 2. Open pre orders! This will help gauge interest and give you a better idea of what to bake and put out. Fill the orders but also set a few extras out for people who are just stopping in. 3. Have a community board in your farmstand for newbies who stop in. Have QR codes available to can to be added to an email list or your pre order system. This will help with everyone to know how your stand works. This is just scratching the surface!
