You know friends, I've always been fond of cherries...from pie to tobacco and everything in between, I love it all. Every now and then, I crave the richness of black cherries. I thought today would be a perfect day to satisfy that craving by cracking open a vintage 1970s tin of Paladin Black Cherry pipe tobacco by the American Tobacco Company! Now, this blend has changed hands multiple times over the years, but the American Tobacco company was the first to produce it. It is still available and currently produced by Lane Limited/STG. It is a fine mixture of course cut Virginia and Burley tobaccos topped with a wonderful black cherry essence. Some folks detest cherry blends, often comparing them to tongue bite laden cough syrup, but I am proud to report that I got absolutely none of that in this finely aged original version by the American Tobacco Company. It was smooth, sweet, and delightful all the way around. The cherry really comes through in aroma and taste. This is the only version I have ever tried so I can't attest to how it compares with current production. Whether you fancy cherry blends or not, I sure do hope you have a moment, to kick back, light up a bowl with your favorite tobacco, and enjoy the video. Swell smokes, my friends!
