Here's a demo of the iRig 2 guitar interface with Amplitube Free. The iRig allows a user to plug a guitar into an iPhone or android device, and then use Amplitube Free as an amp simulator and fx processor. ➤Subscribe to our channel by clicking this button: https://goo.gl/p1xmZJ I was excited to use the iRig 2, because I'm a believer that we should use whatever is at our disposal to make great music. If that means it comes from a smartphone or tablet, so be it! I have also used an older version (2007) of amplitube, which I remember fondly. I was quickly disappointed in the implementation of this device however, since the overall purpose of the "included software" seems to be up-selling "better" or "more" functionality from the lacking Amplitube Free app. From the second you install Amplitube Free app, the device continuously asks you to purchase features to improve the functionality of the program. In this case, there were four advertisements(!) before I even got to use the tuner! I was immediately put on the defensive, and really didn't want to go much further with the software. How many times is it going to ask me to upgrade the tuner or buy a different piece of hardware? This is a reason for me not to use, and especially not to purchase, more IK Multimedia software. After all the marketing spam, when you finally get to use the device and the software- it sounds fine. I'd hesitate to call it great, but I can see some appeal if you want to inject your guitar into your phone or tablet. The included amp (a Marshall amp simulator) sounds OK. However, there is a LOT of noise from the gain of the amp, and if you listen closely, you can hear the algorithm and pulsing of the CPU in the phone. The issue is addressed with a built in noise filter fx pedal patch. The Delays sound nice and are the saving grace of the device and software system, if there are any. Two delays are included, so you can find some pretty nice tape delay sounds for guitar solos. Not included is a distortion stompbox fx- You must register the device with IK Multimedia to gain access to that. Annoying. Why would I respect a company with my personal info, if they clearly don't respect me as a consumer? Also not included are a "Clean" or Fender style amp. All extra amps and fx cost money to download from your digital distributor. The Tuner was a disappointment as well, I'm afraid. Watch the video to see it sort of work. There are better free tuners that are less of a waste of time. Regardless, the software will ask you to buy it's own "Better" one. I have very little patience for Nag-ware with devices which already are on the fringe of being useful. Don't forget, we've already paid the fee to use the device and software, so why so many pop-up advertisements? Conclusion: My advice, take the money that you would pay for this, and buy something useful like a strap or a cable. This device with it's included software will only lead to frustration and wasted time.
