Day 2 on the Rwenzori Mountains' Central Circuit is the longest trek, covering roughly 6-7 hours from Nyabitaba Camp to John Matte Camp. Starting at Nyabitaba (2,650m), the trail crosses the Katshifer Bridge over the Mubuku River, entering the lush bamboo zone with dense vegetation and slippery paths. The climb continues to Omukomujungu resting point, offering a brief respite. The trail then reaches the first boardwalk at Nyamuleju Hut, navigating boggy terrain with scenic views of moss-draped forests and distant peaks. The final stretch leads to John Matte Camp (3,505m), set in a swampy valley near the Bujuku River, surrounded by heather and dramatic cliffs.
