ORATIO MEA — My Prayer in Light A sacred meditation inspired by Gregorian ambience, Latin prayer, and the quiet glow of spiritual light. May this music accompany your moments of reflection, study, healing, and silent prayer. (B) LATIN TEXTS & ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS [I. Psalm 63 - Desire and Rest in the Morning] (Latin) Deus, Deus meus, ad te de luce vigilo. Et in velamento alarum tuarum exsultabo, adhaesit anima mea post te: me suscepit dextera tua. Amen. (English) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. Amen. [II. Sperate in eo, omnis congregatio populi; effundite coram eo corda vestra: Deus adiutor noster in aeternum. Amen. (English) Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Amen. [III. Psalm 121 - Protection by Day and Night] (Latin) Levavi oculos meos in montes, unde veniet auxilium mihi. Amen. (English) I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence commeth my help. My help commeth from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Amen. [IV. Psalm 4 - Rest in Peaceful Sleep] (Latin) Cum invocarem exaudivit me Deus iustitiae meae, in tribulatione dilatasti mihi. Miserere mei, et exaudi orationem meam. Sacrate sacrificium iustitiae, et sperate in Domino. Multi dicunt: Quis ostendit nobis bona? Signatum est super nos lumen vultus tui, Domine: dedisti laetitiam in corde meo. In pace in idipsum dormiam, et requiescam: quoniam tu, Domine, singulariter in spe constituisti me. Requiescam in pace. Amen. (English) Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress. Have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. Rest in peace. Amen.
