The "Agera Feast - 2025" was celebrated on 04th October 2025 in christian village, Kurla West - Mumbai. Agera feast is celebrated every year in the beginning of October month. Agera is the harvest festival and it is celebrated with joy by all the East Indian families. The feast is celebrated because God has given good harvest and the first produce of the soil is offered to God. In this harvest festival the corn, rice paddy and various types of vegetables and fruits are brought in the basket and the priest blesses the first produce of the soil and also offer prayers to farmers and the whole community. The harvest festival is a very old tradition and one can see the proof of scriptures in the bible were God had commended Moses to celebrated this festival so the blessings will be on the cultivation and the farmers are blessed with abundant harvest. Exodus 23: 16 “Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the first fruits of the crops you sow in your field. Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field”. Deut 26: 10-11 “Now bring the first fruits of the soil that you, LORD, have given me…. You shall rejoice in all the good things the LORD you God has given to you and your household”. The Holy church celebrate this festival till date. All the East Indian community celebrate this festival with singing, dancing and after the celebration there is a get together food. In this video we are going to see the procession were its celebrated with East Indian band and dance. The traditional East Indian dance was very vibrant, which was very lively and create a festive atmosphere. We are also going to see some of the ladies are dressed in traditional Lugra (East Indian Saree) and also some of the men have made shirts matching to colour of the Lugra which was very eye catching to see. Young ladies are seen caring basket of first produce of the soil. We are also going to see the Tanga (horse cart) which is loaded with fresh produce of the soil. The priest are taken in Tanga to the celebration hall. The crowd enters to celebrate the Agera fest in the celebration hall. There was musical dance and live band performance which was celebrated in the hall. We would like to thank the parish priests, the nuns, the East Indian community of Kurla and all the parishioners on this Agera Feast 2025 celebration.
