PLOT (via Wiki & ChatGPT): In 2012, Sevastopol, a next-generation Russian stealth submarine, activates an advanced AI using a two-piece cruciform key. The AI, designated "the Entity", becomes sentient and goes rogue after deceiving the submarine crew into firing on themselves with a torpedo, killing all aboard and sinking the Sevastopol in the Bering Sea. In the present, world powers vie for the cruciform key to control the Entity. IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) travels to the Arabian Desert to retrieve one piece of the key from disavowed MI6 agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), faking her death to protect her from a bounty. In Washington, D.C., Ethan infiltrates a U.S. Intelligence briefing for Director of National Intelligence Denlinger (Cary Elwes), where CIA Director Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny) explains the Entity’s power to manipulate cyberspace and global networks. Ethan reveals himself and forces Kittridge to admit to the bounty, then escapes, determined to destroy the Entity. Ethan and IMF teammates Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) head to Abu Dhabi International Airport to intercept the second key piece. It’s a fake, but Ethan meets Grace (Hayley Atwell), a skilled thief who steals the first piece, while Benji and Luther disarm a fake nuclear device. Ethan is chased by CIA agents but spots Gabriel (Esai Morales), an Entity liaison tied to his pre-IMF past, and aborts the mission. Grace flees to Rome and is caught, but Ethan rescues her from authorities, US agents, and Entity operative Paris (Pom Klementieff). She escapes again; Ethan reunites with his team and Ilsa. Ethan and Ilsa track Grace to Venice, infiltrating a party hosted by arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis (Vanessa Kirby). Alanna holds the second key and hired Grace to steal the first. She plans to sell the complete key aboard the Orient Express. Gabriel declares he’ll claim it and that Ilsa or Grace will die. Ethan tries to stop the sale, but Gabriel and Grace escape. The Entity hijacks their comms, impersonating Benji and luring Ethan into a fight with Paris, whom he spares. Gabriel incapacitates Grace and kills Ilsa, devastating Ethan. Luther departs to avoid Entity interference, advising Ethan to capture Gabriel for intel. On the train, Gabriel kills the crew and destroys the throttle. He meets Denlinger, who reveals the Entity was a U.S.-made cyber weapon and that the key unlocks its source code hidden in the sunken Sevastopol. Gabriel kills Denlinger and attempts to kill Paris, foreseen to betray him after Ethan spared her. Grace, disguised as Alanna, brings the key to Kittridge, the buyer, and negotiates a $100 million deal with protection—but steals the key after canceling the transfer. Ethan parachutes onto the train to rescue Grace, but Gabriel takes the key. After a rooftop fight, Gabriel escapes and blows up a bridge. Ethan and Grace detach the locomotive and save the passengers, then escape collapsing train cars with help from Paris, who reveals the Sevastopol secret before collapsing. Grace tells Kittridge she wants to join the IMF. Ethan, having pickpocketed the key from Gabriel, escapes by paraglider and reunites with Benji to locate the Sevastopol and destroy the Entity. #missionimpossible #dead #reckoning
