Anas Aremeyaw Anas brings Kennedy Agyapong to his knees as he sinks in $18M defamation damages Talking Points: The Anas defamation case against Kennedy Ohene Agyapong(Fmr. Assin Central MP) was initially filed at the Accra High Court, it was later dismissed by Justice Eric Baah, citing a lack of evidence and calling him a criminal. Later condemned by Supreme Court Justice Kulendi, who described it as a violent abuse of judicial authority. Anas again filed another lawsuit at the Essex County Superior Court in New Jersey, United States and won by unanimous decision of an eight-member jury and awarded damages of $18 million. For the very first time, Anas appeared in court without his trademark beads face mask but in facial prosthetics. He just wore a nose mask and sunglasses as he awaited to smile his way to the bank. Ken took the stand with his brother Ralph Agyapong and presented his video evidence, ‘Who Watches the Watchman’ along with the ruling of the Ghanaian court. These were ably countered by Anas’s legal team led by Andrew Deheer, Esq. The court was presided over by Hon. Judge Jeffery B. Beacham. Kennedy Agyapong is now mandated to pay the renowned undercover investigative journalist a whopping $18 million in damages and legal costs. Nonetheless, Kennedy Agyapong has reportedly appealed to the jury to reduce the $18 million penalty fine. There are currently no details about this supposed appeal.
