Due to bad weather and bad playing conditions in Cleveland, and scheduling issues/lock out at the start of the 1990 MLB season the Yankees were supposed to open in Cleveland but was bumped a few days later and opening day 1990 to be played at Yankee stadium as Cleveland comes in for the one game and the rest that was scheduled to be played at a later date. Original MSG Broadcast with Tony Kubek, Dewayne Starts and Al Trautwig recorded and digitalized off the original recorded VHS tape later converted to DVD (cir.2002) and has been restored and up on my youtube Phenia Films page for the first time making its debut. Buddy Black making the opening day starter for Cleveland and Dave LaPoint gets the start for New York. Keith Hernandez playing his first game with Cleveland and joins former 1986 Mets teammates Rafael Santana and Jesse Orosco. Yankee catcher Bob Geren goes 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and plays a great defensive game behind the plate for the Yankees. New York scores two runs in the second inning to take the early lead until Indians RF Cory Snyder hits a two run HR in fourth off LaPoint to tie the game. But the Yankees come back scoring runs in the 5th and 6th innings and take the lead and hold off Cleveland with some good relief pitching from Jeff Robinson, Greg Cadaret and Eric Plunk who picks up his first win for 1990.
