Melt Pool Behavior in Fiber Laser Welding Visualized with CAVILUX Illumination Laser

The group of production technology at Ilmenau University of Technology have investigated the spatter behavior in laser beam welding process. This video is of fiber laser welding. It was captured at 20,000 frames per second with CAVILUX HF Laser Illumination System. In this footage you can clearly see the formation of capillary in the melt pool and the spatter created and how it behaves. When using CAVILUX to illuminate the welding process, you can see through heat and easily visualize the process with immense detail by completely removing the fiber laser light. This allows you to analyze the weld as it is taking place and fine tune your process to perfection.
