As is usual when I do these it feels like I haven't explained myself very well. Part of that is having a timer set while I'm writing so there's a lot of pressure to both write quickly, get my point across in one take, and spell things right. Which I don't think I've ever managed to do. There's almost 2 things in this video. Work life balance and intentional imbalance. There's crossover and it's hard to separate them, so bear with me as my thoughts go between the two. I want to add this idea is not for everyone. Some won't want to, others won't be able to, although intentional imbalance can be done whilst working a full time job. It's not just the things you do out of work hours instead of watch TV or scroll on your phone, it's actively diving deep into something. Just be wary that it doesn't turn into a lifestyle of neglecting things (which I'm guilty of doing) because you're focused on a goal. You can think of intentional imbalance like rapid growth and skill development, especially if you can treat it like a job and do it for a significant amount of time 3 - 5 days a week. You can learn the basics to anything in 20 hours. Give it 500 hours, and you can literally change the direction of your life or those around you. Likewise, intentional imbalance can be to drop out for a while and get back in touch with yourself and what it is you want to do with your time. Intuition isn't something you cultivate from being busy but from sitting with your thoughts. So go find somewhere quiet and spend some time with yourself. Of course there is a cost, and you might neglect being on top of the house work or eating healthy or exercising or being present with your partner or going to work and earning money. It really depends on what you are aiming for and if you think it's something you can drop for a short period of time. I mention saving for a house as a crazy thing to do, because for most of us, it is not an easily achieved goal (I certainly haven't achieved it as I write this). The thing is if you're living a life of poverty trying to save for something, that's fine and all, but recognise it's imbalanced and shouldn't be your 'normal'. I don't like the idea of spending my life saving for a retirement that isn't promised. Big picture, life's short. Enjoy your time and do something you can look back on fondly or share with future generations of humans. Gear used: Driving footage was filmed on a Gopro Hero 6 (1080 P, 60 FPS, ultrawide mode).
