Hello, this is Nick with Albert Air and today we are going to look at a 3-ZONE ductless split system that we installed in an ADU. I am going to walk you through the installation of the outdoor condenser and then the indoor fan coils. I will tell you about the unit spec, features and benefits of this system. As always, please LIKE this video and SUBSRIBE to my CHANNEL for more videos about HVAC systems. If you are in the ORANGE COUNTY, CA area and would like more information about this system or an ESTIMATE please call me at 714-526-6368 or visit us at albertair.com. I will also leave my info in the description below. So let’s get into to this system. We are looking at the outside ductless heat pump condenser right now. This is an AC Pro 27,000 BTU ductless heat pump condenser. It is 21+SEER2 It uses the new R-454B refrigerant This unit has a variable speed inverter driven compressor that will do both heating and cooling. It will vary its speeds depending on how many indoor units are on and what temperature you want each room. It’ sound rating is 61 decibels on high speed and will be down to 48 on low speed. It’s dimensions are 37 Width x 16 inches Depth x 32 inches High It sits on a 38x18x3 pad It is powered by a 30amp two pole breaker, 30 amp disconnect with 30 amp fuses. It needs a dedicated circuit from the main panel to the condenser. This unit is hooked up to 3 indoor fan coils. Each fan coil has refrigerant lines and control wiring to run them from this unit. We ran all of the lines in the wall and to the fan coils during the open framing of the ADU so they are hidden from view on the outside of the house, otherwise we would use a line cover to hide them. Over here we have the condensate drain lines that come out from each fan coil for their drains. So, let me know what you think of this system so far? Is this something you are interested in for your house or ADU project? if you have any questions please leave them in the comments section below and I will answer those for you. NOW LET’S GO INSIDE AND CHECK OUT THE FAN COILS. We did 3 ceiling mount fan coils in this ADU. Just like the outdoor unit being variable speed, all of the indoor fan coils are variable speed. The living room/kitchen fan coil is a 12,000 BTU 4 way ceiling cassette. This size fan coil will cool or heat a room up to 500 plus SQ/FT The dimensions are 24 inches Width by 24 inches Depth (Square) You need to have enough space above the unit in the attic to attach the refrigerant lines, control wiring and condensate drain line to work properly. The air comes out of the fan coil in 4 different directions to cover everything in this room. The fan coil is powered by the outside condenser and is controlled by this remote control. ALL THE FAN COILS have a filter inside the unit that is washable and needs to be cleaned about 2 times a year depending on use. The remote control is what is used to set your temperatures and functions of this fan coil The two bedroom fan coils are 9,000 BTU 1 way ceiling cassets. This size unit will cool or heat a room up to 300 plus SQ/FT The dimensions on these are 50 inches Width by 13 inches Depth You need to have enough space in the attic to attach the refrigerant lines, control wiring and drain lines for them to work properly. The air comes out of these fan coils in one direction across the room to cool or heat it. The ceiling mount fan coils are a great option compared to the side wall fan coils for space and to hide them from sight on the side of a wall. Let’s take a quick look at the remote controls Mode, Temp, Swing, TURBO, Etc.. FINAL THOUGHTS This is a great system option for an ADU like this. Instead of central heating and AC system to cover the whole house at once, you get individual zones for each room so that you are more efficient at cooling and heating what you need at any given time. The ductless split system products have a lot of options. This is just one way it can be configured. Make sure you check out the other videos on my CHANNEL. I have several on different types ductless split system as well as central ac systems and heat pumps. So, let me know what you think. Is this something you might be interested in.
