Building a community you feel a sense or belonging in can make or break how you feel as a foreigner in Finland !🇫🇮 Finnish culture is very different and people hibernate in the winter so it is level ten tricky to make friends in this country - plus add being a foreigner on top of the fact that making friends as an adult is hard for everyone. Here are my tips 👇 1️⃣ JOIN A GYM & GO!!: I wouldn’t have my community that I love now if it weren’t for my gym. Not only have the classes taught me some Finnish, but I’ve learned so much about Finnish culture. Bonus tip, working out in the evenings kept me sane through winter while the sun was gone ❄️ 2️⃣ Join FB groups - IWWOF, GGI, search “your nationality + in Finland/your city” you’d be surprised the random communities you can meet through online forums and get some good advice too!! 3️⃣ Take a class at the Kansalaisopisto - take a language class! Learn how to knit! 4️⃣ Be open & keep that PMA positive mental attitude!!
