Here we are, at the end of the base game, damn I love this boss, the nostalgia bait is real sure but still they did it so well, the ost is amazing, the lore behind it is just perfect, the 4 different movesets of first phase are really fun and challenging to master because of how big and varied the whole thing is, and "gwyn" second phase is almost perfect EXCEPT for that cursed kick hit box, my hate for that thing knows no bounds, the hit box activates as soon as the animation starts, waaay before he does the actual kick, they are instantaneous, meaning you will ALWAYS get hit if you're close to him when he uses that move, so if you get hit it's entirely rng unless you're out of range, seriously what were they thinking!? why couldn't they just port it right just like it was on ds1?? I swear I don't get it, because it sure looks intentional... Anyways the thing is it kinda ruins the whole phase gameplay wise, because for a no hit you always need to assume that move is coming, because he uses it a ton at close range, reducing hugely your openings to attack, agh what a pain it was, so yeah needless to say this was by far the hardest no hit so far and the one that took me more tries (way more than midir and gael for example), it is the final boss though and the official end of the run so it has got to be hard, I want it that way, but it's a shame that only 1 move can mess with the whole fight so much, still an amazing final boss (especially considering fromsoft usual final bosses), and a solid 9/10 for me if I had to rate it. Also a hot take here, but I do think Soul of Cinder is a better ending for the whole trilogy than Gael, so I really think it's perfect as the final boss for the last game. Fun fact: I actually forgot to turn off the mic on this one and you can faintly hear me at 6:03 but there's no reaction whatsoever, not even a word, I don't really remember the situation (as this was recorded almost 2 years ago) but I bet I was just tired after so many tries that day that I couldn't even celebrate lol tough boss to no hit indeed
