The first video on my channel featuring myself on a Rickenbacker 325! Thanks to ‪@MichaelSokil‬ for lending it to me The Beatles recorded this song for the Hard Day's Night film/album on February 27th, 1964 after returning from America. It featured the normal lineup of Paul on bass, Ringo on drums, George on lead guitar and John on rhythm guitar A lot of people have assumed that George played his new Rickenbacker 12-string, because he's using it in the film for Tell Me Why. But there are two pieces of evidence that have led me to believe that he played... not his 12-string OR his Gretsch Country Gentleman, but his GRETSCH TENNESSEAN Photos from the Feb 27th session for Tell Me Why show his Tennessean lying on the floor https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=... ALSO, audio from the outtakes reveals George noodling on a very twangy six-string electric guitar. These two revelations were discovered in our ‪@GearThereEverywhere‬ Tenny episode, where you can hear these outtakes:    • George Harrison's Gretsch Tennessean: A De...   Meanwhile, John undoubtedly played his new 'Miami' Rickenbacker 325, most likely on the bridge pickup. George and John were both plugged into their Vox AC-50 amps I'm playing a 1982 Rickenbacker 320B. Thanks Michael! It is a reissue, based off of John's FIRST Rickenbacker 325, the 'Capri' or 'Hamburg' model. Michael had it modded to be closer to John's 325, upgrading it to a bigsby, bowtie bridge, single-tiered pickguard, etc. My Gretsch Tennessean is a real 1967 model, in Walnut finish. It's all original, except for a refret. Both of these guitars are plugged into my Vox AC-30C2X INTERESTING NOTES: 0:01 George plays a higher Em chord to an A bar chord, while John plays an open Em7 to A7 0:07 John plays each succeeding chord before the downbeat. For example, buh-DUM. DUM is the downbeat. John plays the next chord on 'buh' 0:13 At the end of each verse's chord progression, there's a quick D to Bm before the Em to A. John and/or George will sometimes play the Bm and sometimes not. Staying on the D major is similar to Bm, because D is the relative major of Bm 1:26 John plays fast 16th up and downs on D7, leading into the middle-eight 1:28 John plays G7 bar chord, while George plays a normal G barred 1:36 George plays high up Bm, Em and A bar chords at the end of the middle-eight 1:37 John plays an Em6 before resolving to the Em7.
