Performed live on March 16th, 2003, at the Newcastle Civic Theatre in Newcastle, Australia. Featuring Ben Kweller and Ben Lee. Audience tape by unknown. Audio remastered by Hollie Taylor. This here is probably my favorite show from the entire Bens tour. While the fidelity isn't a strong as the Palais broadcast, it's a lot more clear than the Burswood tape. More importantly, these performances are phenomenal. All 3 members give a passionate solo performance, with Folds' being the longest by a little bit, and they come together for some band performances with some members appearing on others' tracks. They all do a great job and have great chemistry together, while having solid confidence on their own. With all 3 artists being relatively new to a solo career, they've at least had long enough to be extremely well put-together here. I'm really into Kweller's Falling, Lee's cover of Here Comes September, Folds' bass solo before Bruised, as well as his entire solo performance, particularly the whole band coming together to do acoustic renditions of Brick and Missing the War. The source audio here is from wma files that were heavily compressed and then likely increased by a decibel, causing a ton of clipping. I've removed this clipping with RX 10, which the remaster was then built off of. The EQ was mostly targetting strong harmonics and evening out the overall sound, and I've also applied a slight noise gate to approximate a slightly more dynamic sound, before the final compression and limiting on the leftover peaks created by the EQ to get it back to the volume it was before.
