I am making this video to share information if you are travelling to Guwahati. a. How to reach to Guwahati from anywhere in India? b. What is the easiest way to commute within Guwahati? c. Where to go to in Guwahati if it is your first time? Etc. A- Air Guwahati is served by the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, in Borjhar, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) west from the heart of the city. With all major domestic and international airlines flying into Guwahati. Rail The city of Guwahati and the northeastern region falls under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Zone of the Indian Railways. Road National Highway 27 connects Guwahati with the states West Bengal, Bihar & Rest of India. B- Easiest way to commute within Guwahati – Public transport is good such as taxi, auto and buses however I found ola & uber services quite good as it is easily available and cost effective too. I paid max Rs. 150 to 200 for the longest distance. C- 1. Umananda Temple – Umananda Mandir in situated in the middle of mighty Brahmaputra River. It is a smallest river Island which is also known as Peacock Island and Umananda Island. The hill on which the shrine is located is known as Bhasmacala – direct connects to the legend of lord Shiva. Government Ferry rides are available to reach to the island for a meager amount of Rs. 20 per head. The Ferry ride is a centre of attraction for tourists. 2. Kamakhya Devi Temple – Once you have visited Umananda Mandir then the next destination is Kamakhya Mandir. It is a 3 km hill drive. Kamakhya devi is famous as the bleeding goddess. The mythical womb and vagina of Shakti are supposedly installed in the 'Garvagriha' or sanctum of the temple. In the month of Ashaad (June), the goddess bleeds or menstruates. It is believed that at this time, the Brahmaputra river near Kamakhya turns red. 3. Sunset point – Sunset point is always a tourist attraction as it is a best way to end tiring day and relax. Watching a magnificent sunset over the majestic Brahmaputra River and enjoy your evening, with this relaxing and unforgettable sunset cruise experience at Alfresco grand which provides cruise service. Sunset Cruise - The entry charge is 450 per head for sunset cruise (without snax though you can order some on the cruise). Timing 5 to 6 pm. Dinner Cruise – The entry charge you 1300 dinner cruise. You will be welcomed with a. Welcome drink b. Traditional northeast folk dance and music c. Dinner Timing 7:30 to 9 pm.
