The simple piece of paper we use every day was a revolutionary technology that literally wrote the future. The history of paper begins in Han Dynasty China, where writing on heavy bamboo or expensive silk made governing an empire a nightmare. The solution came in 105 CE from a court official named Cai Lun. He perfected the papermaking process by ingeniously using waste materials like tree bark, old rags, and fishing nets. This cheap, lightweight invention unleashed an explosion of knowledge that spread along the Silk Road, eventually paving the way for Gutenberg's printing press. In this video, I explore the story of this world-changing innovation. What do you think is the most underrated invention in history? Let me know in the comments!
