What is Chlamydia infection? How to treat chlamydia infection? ▶️ Visit Our Website: https://www.simplevas.net ▶️Contact: (515) 603-2140 Hey Guys! Welcome, and in today's video, Dr. Guarin will discuss what chlamydia infection is and its treatment. Dr. Guarin is a board-certified physician trained in Maternal, Child, and Reproductive Health. He was originally trained in Colombia at the Universidad de Santander – UDES, graduating at the top of his class. In the United States, chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It's especially common in young adults, which has to do with the way their bodies work and the choices they make about their lives, like having sex with many different people. ▶️There are some risks of getting chlamydia: • New sexual partner • Multiple sexual partners • Have reinfection Seventy to eighty percent of women with chlamydia don't know they have it because they don't have any symptoms. Chlamydia can cause the cervix to become inflamed, and women who have it may have pain, bleeding, and pus coming out when they urinate or after being sexually active. The infection can also spread to the upper genital tract and cause inflammation of the womb, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. It's called the inflammatory disease of the pelvis. If you have chlamydia and are pregnant, you can give it to your child. ▶️Chlamydia Symptoms in Women: • Pain or a burning sensation while urinating • Abnormal vaginal discharge that may be watery or milky • Painful discharge or bleeding from the anus • Inflamed eyelids • Pain during sex • Lower abdominal pain • Bleeding between menstrual periods • Nausea or fever Nearly half of the men with chlamydia don't have any symptoms. Because chlamydia doesn't cause any symptoms, it's easy for the infection to spread to people who don't have it, and people often don't know they have it as long as they keep having sexual relations. Urethritis or an infection of the urethra is often caused by chlamydia in men. So, men with chlamydia may have pain when they urinate, have trouble going to the bathroom, and have a white discharge from the tip of their penis. Some men may get epididymitis if the infection moves up the genital tract and into the vas deferens and testicles. ▶️Chlamydia Symptoms in Men: • Pain or burning while urinating • An abnormal discharge from the penis, which may be pus (a thick yellowish-white fluid) or a watery or milky fluid • Painful discharge or bleeding from the anus • Inflamed eyelids (from contact with genital secretions) • Painful or swollen testicles Chlamydia can be treated, since bacteria cause it; antibiotics can be used to treat it. If you have chlamydia, your doctor will usually give you azithromycin (Zithromax) or doxycycline, which you take by mouth. Most of the time, antibiotics are all that are needed to treat chlamydia. The doctor may tell you to take doxycycline for a week or azithromycin once a day for 3 days. If you are taking doxycycline, you shouldn't have sex until you and your current sexual partner are done with treatment. If you take azithromycin, you should not have sex for 7 days after the last dose. All your sexual partners must also be tested and treated to stop the infection from spreading. ▶️These are five things to remember about regarding chlamydia infection: • Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease • You can get infected even if your partner does not have obvious symptoms • Not treating chlamydia can lead to serious consequences • Treatment is simple and effective • Use of condoms is one of the most effective way to prevent chlamydia So, watch the video till the end and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
