Atlantis Music Presents New Bengali Ramprasadi Song 'Mon Re Krishi Kaaj' By Dohar & Written / Composed By Ramprasad Sen. #Dohar #ShyamaSangeet #NewBengaliSong2019 Ramprasad Sen was a Shakta (worshipper of the 'Shakti' or the Mother Goddess) poet, saint and one of the notable figures of the bhakti (a form of worship that is deeply devotional seeking to forge a close personal relationship with God) movement in the eighteenth century Bengal. His bhakti (devotional) poems, known as 'Ramprasadi' are still popular in Bengal today. He is credited with popularizing the bhakti Shakta tradition and Shyama Sangeet (devotional songs worshipping the Goddess Kali). Ramprasad was the first Shakta poet to worship Kali with such intimate devotion, and to sing of her as a tender loving mother or even as a little girl. After him, a school of Shakta poets continued the Kali-bhakti tradition. Ramprasad created a new compositional form that combined the Bengali folk music styles of Baul and Kirtan with classical melodies. Ramprasad was born into a Tantric (follower of the 'Tantra' way of worship) family in Halisahar (North 24 Parganas) and showed an inclination towards poetry from an early age. Ramprasad's literary works include Vidyasundar, Kali-kirtana, Krishna-kirtana and Shaktigiti. He was a court poet of Raja Krishna Chandra of Nadia District. He was the only composer who gave birth to a signature tune, which came to be known as 'Ramprasadi'. Lalon Fakir, Rabindra Nath Tagore and many other legendary poet-composers were inspired by his tune and composed many songs in the distinctive Ramprasadi style.
