The main purpose of visiting this place was to explore the uncharted, unseen village area in the backwaters of koyna-shivsagar lake. Vele village is one of unexplored area of Koyna backwaters. Here are the Geo-coordinates the longitude is 17.583521 N and latitude is 73.796557 E. Now the main question is How will you reach there? For that please watch this video till end as in the end I have explained the route map from Satara. You need to walk down through dense forest for an hour. Leopards, bears, bison’s, wild dogs, porcupines, snakes, wild pigs, hedgehog, are the main wild animals you might get to see this jungle safari. The main occupation of vele village people are animal husbandry and farming, they have 7 houses in that village and the population is 25. If anyone need any medical facility, then they take that patient in their bamboo made carrier and climb up the whole mountain to reach to chalkewadi and then to satara city. The wild animals attack is the main problem of this people, recently one leopard killed the cow. Bears live by groups and their attack is so harmful. Bison’s eat 1-acre land of grown farm by night. They use dogs for their protection in the night. I have inserted the subtitles in English for more clarification. This area is totally uncharted that’s why we have chosen this village for our documentary. This village needs of rehabilitation.
