A playthrough of the potential boss Clone Zero/Cloned Zero/C. Zero/Commander Pringles in the Steam port of SNK’s King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match. Commander Pringles himself returns for one last video. Cloned Zero here isn’t too different from his “original” counterpart, with the same cape-swiping, guard-breaking shenanigans which typifies that character. Where are his major differences? One, as I mentioned in the last video, is that he is able to use a follow special move or super move after getting a successful hit with his hard punch normal. Another is that his black hole special move (a cheap screen-filling attack, which was severely nerfed for this game) has a bit of a start-up, as Cloned Zero strikes a dramatic pose when unleashing it. His hard cape uppercut (f, d, df+C) is also different to his original counterpart, as he does a dramatic flip at the end of it. While he doesn’t have Original Zero’s strikers, he does have two special moves unique to him. The first is this awesome shadow grab attack, where Zero’s shadow lunges out and, even if it catches the opponent, he will teleport over to them and hit them with an auto-combo. It’s cheesy, but definitely badass and villain-esque, and like so many of his moves incredibly satisfying to pull off. The other is…well, his infamous “fart of doom attack”, where he kneels and, if he catches the opponent, proceeds to defeat them with a plume of wind of his behind. At least, that’s how it looks. It’s stylish and, again, satisfying to pull off, but I can’t deny it looks pretty silly. In terms of gameplay I’d say Original Zero is probably a bit better (just due to the insane range of his strikers), but Clone Zero is more interesting as a character in my opinion. I like the dramatic bosses; they turn it into a much more intense, cinematic fight, which is what a fighting game boss should strive to be without necessarily compromising gameplay in its wake. All in all, Clone Zero is just fabulous. Next up, the last of the NESTS Saga bosses.
