This is a playthrough in Normal mode using Devilot in the PS1 version of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Read on below for more information... Devilot is a hidden character in the game, and she can be fought against as a CPU opponent providing that certain conditions are met. She is a hidden playable character. ===== HOW TO SELECT DEVILOT ===== ---- For Player 1: On the character select screen, highlight Morrigan, hold Select, and press Left, Left, Left, Down, Down, Down, wait for the timer to reach/show 10 seconds, and press any button. (besides the Start and shoulder buttons) ---- For Player 2: On the character select screen, highlight Felicia, hold Select, and press Right, Right, Right, Down, Down, Down, wait for the timer to reach/show 10 seconds, and press any button. (besides the Start and shoulder buttons) ===== ABOUT SPFII DEVILOT ===== She is a deformed "chibi"-type character version of her normal counterpart in Cyberbots. She acts as a hidden playable character and possible secret CPU opponent in Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. The two lackeys besides her are Dave the scientist and Xavier the wizard. ===== GAMEPLAY ===== Her Counter Gem drop pattern, along with Akuma's one, is the best in the game as it is the most "difficult" to counter and plan against. However, Devilot seems to have a weakness whereby the amount of Counter Gems she sends to the opponent tends be lower when compared to the other characters, making players having to work harder to achieve a massive Counter with her. ===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ===== ---- Her Counter Gem drop pattern is a mirrored version of Akuma's one, and vice-versa. ---- When she is the hidden CPU challenger, her Counter Gem infliction amount is higher than when she is controlled by a player. ---- On the character select screen, her image portrait is different to the Arcade version. In the PS1 image, Dave and Xavier appear in it with Devilot. In the Arcade image, it's just Devilot herself. However, the VS screen portrait has the lackeys in it. ---- She is the only character in the game to not be from Street Fighter or Darkstalkers. ---- Her name can also be spelled as Devilotte. ---- Her character design is based on John Tenniel's illustrations for Alice in Wonderland. ---- The game is known as Super Puzzle Fighter II X in Japan. ===== ABOUT SPFIIT ===== Take some Street Fighter Alpha, Darkstalkers and Cyberbots characters and stages and deform them. Take SFA2's motif and change it a bit. Make up a puzzle formula. Add all these together and make it a puzzle game... a great puzzle game. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is one addictive game I can tell you that, it's all well done in a neat little package that really brings out the persona of the characters in it. ===== THE PS1 PORT ===== The PS1 version is a fairly good port of the Arcade original, however obviously there are going to be some small disappointments... besides the loading times, the sound effects and voices sound muffled when compared to the Arcade ones. Also, I am not entirely sure on whether there are animation frames cut out for the characters during gameplay. On the upside though, the PS1 port wins on the extra features and unlockables, as well as the Remixed soundtrack - which is better than the original Arcade one in my view. The PS1 game also misses the "music speed up" feature for when a side (or both) is struggling in gameplay (due to the music being played by CD audio)... although it can be argued that not having this feature is actually a good thing, especially for those who enjoy the music.
