My first challenge run of this game that I would consider very hard, with this stretch of the game being pretty sloppy. A lot of these fights have at least a bit of rng too thanks to earlygame just being earlygame. I was a little inconsistent about recording early on, and from Corey to the Orphanage I got fed up with going for deathless at all and just rolled through those fights without recording anything. So far I have neglected to go back and redo those fights, and since I don't much care for earlygame I'm not sure I will. Hard mode means all my pokemon have 0 IVs in every stat, and the opponent's are PULSE2'd from the start of the game. Additionally I am restricting myself to pokemon that have a base stat total of strictly less than 500. Aside from that, I'm not really restricting myself on much other than just not using two of the same form of the same pokemon in one battle - this includes effectively having free nature changes and full level-up learnset access after getting ditto at blacksteam, as well as access to egg moves if the corresponding pokemon is available in-game by that point (whether or not it has less than 500bst) Starter - Pikachu, Onyx Egg - Frillish, Jasper Egg - Shroomish 0:00 julia had an unhealthy smattering of rng to avoid some KOs, but it's julia so what can you do tangrowth-c gets totally walled by trash wormadam, which i wish i recorded since i don't think i've ever used wormadam before lol 2:35 flo has a lot less rng thanks to big stall, only down to if ferroseed rolls high on both pin missile and sand tomb - which pansear could avoid anyway if it rolls high on flame burst. once cradily is on the field frillish can easily stall it out so noctowl can set up max damage echoed voice to sweep - which cottonee makes easier by poisoning me so breloom can't spore me. wish i recorded tangrowth-b as well, it made use of cool rocky field tech by having frillish use acid armor to gain the effect of bulletproof, allowing it to wall exeggute. this baits out chatot, so recover then swap to manectric to take it out before going back to eggs vs frillish, who has to tank one bullet seed (very tiny chance of death here - five max rolls or three hits critting) before it can just set up again, then win as long as tangrowth doesnt crit four times in a row. 8:39 rhodocrine ace is unsurprisingly not very hard until tangrowth-a comes out, then haze gives me the leeway to set the field on fire and just stall out tangrowth. it probably would've been smarter to read stored power and swap to stunky rather than have numel use amnesia, but i like seeing it go to +4 right away lol Corey, Ch 4 Aster/Eclipse, Vic, Fern, Cal, Shelly, and Ch 5 Sigmund all unrecorded as noted above. 10:59 i had a totally unnecessary death for shade in using onix to set rocks, which i didnt need at all. banette is the only one with a non-ghost move that can hurt shedinja, and skuntank can easily swap in on banette to take it out. realizing this after the fact kinda led to me deciding to try to go for deathless lines a lot more after the next chapter or two. in any case, even if onix survived it doesn't make for a particularly exciting fight, which turns into a trend at apophyll blacksteam ZEL got swept by swellow after a baton pass 22:39 had i not mixed up spite and grudge, vicky would have gone a lot faster, and it was not until planning for cal that i realized i have ditto by now and could've just put spite on shedinja anyway. In any case, what actually went wrong here was me thinking pangoro would stay in and struggle, so i used swords dance for a third time which was completely unnecessary - swellow swept at +3. luckily swellow was just alive enough after the baton pass to still sweep, but i probably should've redone the fight to actually have a safe clear. 28:32 cal and vic seemed kinda equally difficult and i dont like playing favorites, so i decided to do them both. i probably shouldve gone with just vic though, since this fight was a bit of a disaster between misclicking ancient power on hakamo instead of lava plume, using onix as a full on suicide lead because i needed rocks, and overlooking the fact that camerupt wouldve been a generally better magcargo. on top of that, i also realized later that giving blake the ring locks me out of cal's ending no matter what, so doing this fight got me relationship points that won't matter at all. 31:45 kiki of course falls victim to shedinja stall, made worse for her by machamp having a setup move that the ai will prefer to use over swapping out. once it's at +3 it's practically guaranteed not to swap out, so ninjask can come in without worrying about hard swaps while it sets up for swellow 35:48 three-for-one special on sturdy mons this run. forretress had gravity on it just in case garchomp wanted to use fire fang and miss for some bizarre reason
