𝗬𝗮𝗸 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝟯.𝟬 𝗘𝗻𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗴: 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗽𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗮𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼n MPL News Live Tawang, Oct 26 — The serene mountain valleys of Tawang turned festive as the third edition of Yak Mela (Yak Khrom) 3.0 brought together vibrant colours, music, and the rich traditions of the Brokpa community. The celebration, held at the breathtaking PT Tso, centered around the message “Save Yak, Care Brokpas,” highlighting both cultural pride and environmental responsibility. Jointly organised by the Tawang District Administration, the 190 Mountain Brigade of the Indian Army, the National Research Centre on Yak (Dirang), and the Department of Animal Husbandry, the event showcased the enduring connection between the Brokpas and their revered Himalayan yaks. Visitors witnessed an array of performances — from traditional folk dances and ritual offerings to live displays of yak rearing techniques — offering a vivid portrayal of the Brokpa way of life in the high-altitude pastures. In addition to cultural festivities, the Mela also promoted awareness about yak conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and ecosystem protection through interactive sessions and exhibitions. Community elders and officials emphasized the importance of protecting the yak population — a lifeline for the region’s economy, culture, and ecology. As Yak Mela 3.0 drew to a close, it stood as a powerful reminder of Tawang’s growing role in nurturing indigenous heritage, environmental harmony, and sustainable tourism — ensuring that the Brokpa legacy and the majestic yak continue to thrive together. #YakMela3 #TawangTourism #MonpaCulture #BrokpaTradition #ArunachalPradesh #ResponsibleTourism #SaveTheYak
