When the fingers on my right hand were amputated in June, the surgeon left a little bit of the bone hanging out on my thumb, in hopes that granulation tissue would grow around the bone and I would be able to keep the longer thumb, along with my thumbnail. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I also had a little bit of the nail bed left on the tip of my pinky, and some of my fingernail started growing out of the vey tip of the pinky finger. So, I need to have another amputation to take a little bit more off of both the thumb and the pinky finger on my right hand. This video shows the first time that I've seen both my thumb and my pinky after the new amputation.
