G’day I’m Karen Schmidt; in this video I arrive at Port Phillip Bay and meet with Author Lance Pritchard who talks us through his examination of the Hume and Hovell expedition termination point, 200yrs ago. The goal of the expedition was to reach Bass Straight and they acheived this on December 16 1824. Lance's research puts the expeditions arrival to the bay at Point Cook, not at Corio Bay. Captain William Hilton Hovell was my 4xGreat Grandfather and this video is part of a series whereby I retrace his steps on the bicentenary of the Hume and Hovell Expedition of 1824-25.
