Custom foot orthotics are a great long-term treatment for posterior tibial tendon dysfunction/posterior tibial tendinitis. Custom foot orthotics provide biomechanical control of the foot therefore helping to reduce recurrence of posterior tibial tendinitis. Unlike over-the-counter orthotics, which are purchased right off the shelf in a store and are often very flexible, custom foot orthotics are made by taking a three dimensional scan of the feet. These images are sent to the lab with a prescription written by Dr. Jordan Stewart of Timonium Foot and Ankle Center. The custom for orthotics are back in the office in a matter of weeks.
