The Triskeles on the gold foil portion of the Amfreville helmet follows a alternating pattern which repeats every three steps. This design is considered a Breton Trisklee. In this video series Jason Bellchamber uses a compass, straight edge ruler, pencil, eraser and different pigment liners (0.5mm, 1.0mm and 1.2mm) to replicate how the spirals are laid out. Construction of the the individual spirals are found in the series 181 to 183. Keep in mind that the direction of the spirals in this segment of videos is what the goldsmith used to emboss or create the repoussé. This series is a level 3 difficulty drawing. Be patient with yourself and enjoy the process. Drawing intersecting circles on a horizon line alone will take you some practice. Once you are done give your self a big pat on the back! This pattern looks simple, it is not! Persist and you will master it. The next will be uploaded soon and each segment will be uploaded weekly.
