The concept behind the Jenny Craig Diet is to teach dieters to eat the foods they like in small sizes in frequent meals as well as how to increase their energy level by engaging in physical activity. During the final phase of the program, the dieter is taught how to incorporate balance in their lifestyle so that they can maintain their achieved weight. When a dieter follows the Jenny Craig Diet, he/she will have to eat prepackaged meals. Nutrition wise, these foods are actually based on the USDA food pyramid and is composed of 60% carbs, 20% protein, and 20% fat. Dieters may supplement their meals by eating fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains or low fat dairy products. Here's how it works: Step 1: Once you have signed up to the Jenny Craig Diet Program you will meet up with the program director or talk over the phone. Your profile will be reviewed and questions will be asked regarding your physical activities and eating habits. They will get a baseline of your weight and measurement. Step 2: Your meals will now be arranged according to your needs and you will get three meals a day and a snack but you are expected to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low fat dairy products as supplements to your meals. Step 3: You will also be advised to do physical activities by following a simple physical activity program which they will also provide. Step 4: In each week, you will have to meet your consultant or talk over the phone where the results will be discussed along with ways on how you can overcome the difficulties with the diet and strategies and info about food and your body—if needed, new goals will be made. Step 5: Halfway in the diet, you will be on your own where you will plan and cook your own meals with the food you have but don't worry because you will be advised on how to go about this. Your physical activity will also increase at this point. Step 6: Once your goal weight is reached, you will be taught on how to maintain it by meal planning and regular exercise. Recipes and cooking techniques will also be handed to you.
