Policies have to be made based on the changes we are seeing in the world. If you look at how America actually became powerful, or how Britain before that became powerful, you find that they rose by controlling mobility. The British controlled the steam engine and coal. They built a navy and controlled the trade routes. The Americans later did something similar with petroleum. Now, we are moving into the world of the electric motor. That, to me, is where the real power will lie. Military power is also shifting toward batteries, optics, and electric motors. And who dominates these technologies today? Not India. Not America. Not Europe. China. For us, that is a huge problem, because we are one of the few countries with the scale to make this transition.
