During this Global Network Webinar Samira Asma, William Msemburi, Bochen Cao, and Nelly Biondi from the World Health Organization (WHO) presented the World Health Statistics report 2021: The World Health Statistics report (https://www.who.int/data/gho/publicat...) is WHO’s annual ‘state of the world’s health’ assessment with the latest data on more than 50 health-related Sustainable Development Goal and “triple billion” target indicators. The 2021 edition was published in May and presents the latest data and trends for life expectancy, mortality and burden of disease at global and regional levels. It also includes preliminary estimates for global excess deaths attributable to COVID-19 for 2020 (https://www.who.int/data/stories/the-...) with a focus on health inequalities and data gaps that have been accentuated by the pandemic. In this webinar, our speakers explored the stories behind the data and highlighted key findings. The Global Network of Data Officers and Statisticians aims to improve coordination and collaboration among peers and organizations, to connect existing but not necessarily well-connected networks and initiatives, and to provide and share information on capacity building efforts globally. In the framework of the Global Network UNSD organizes a series of webinars. For more information visit our information pages at https://unstats.un.org/capacity-devel...
