A year ago, we asked if the quality of the well known Sidi Crossfire boots was slipping. Widely regarded as the second best boot you could buy after Gaernes, in recent years there appears to be a decrease in quality. Riders we knew were reporting problems. We looked around on the forums and found others complaining with Sidi Crossfire reviews. We then did a video suggesting there may have been a drop in quality and had many responses. One of the latest local cases? Our guy takes the boot back to the retailer and he's told no warranty claim. It was chased up with the Sidi sales rep who said no, because the base was ripped up by the footpeg when the owner rode the bike back to his base. The owner then approaches the distributor, MacLeod, but they never responded. If they ever do, we will let you know in the pinned first comment about other Sidi Crossfire SRS problems. Here are some of the responses we've had since asking for other people's experiences with Sidi Crossfire SRS reviews. We should point out that many riders are happy with their Sidi Crossfires. But it is disturbing to note that around half the responses we had were negative. This strongly suggests something is going wrong. We also spoke with a retailer who was getting a lot of returns in recent years. He asked someone in the distributor network about this. They said something must be going seriously wrong at the factories because they were getting so many warranty claims. It's interesting to note there are less problems in Sidi Crossfire reviews with the TA model with the stitched sole. This model is made in Romania. But there seem to be a lot more complaints about the SRS model with the replaceable sole. And yet it's made in Italy, where traditionally the best boots in the world are made. We did email a list of questions to Sidi's head office, the UK distributor, and the USA distributor before our first video about Sidi Crossfire problems. But no one answered. However the USA distributor, Motonation, did eventually respond after the video came out. Here are their answers, which we wanted to include in a Sidi Crossfire SRS boot review. RESPONSE TO AN APPARENT DROP IN SIDI CROSSFIRE QUALITY? Soles coming off could be due to Italy being forced to use an EU-approved glue. If application isn't perfect, the soles can peel off. Other parts? Crossfires come with replaceable parts for a reason. Motonation USA claim that warranty return rates are only 0.7%. Motonation feel we are using anecdotal evidence to make a case for increased failure rates that they believe have not changed. WILL SIDI CROSSFIRE SUPPORT BE PROVIDED OUT OF WARRANTY? SIDI's head office generally offers no warranty. The warranty is usually provided by the distributor, although in some cases SIDI is offering warranty and reimbursing the distributor. Every country distributor has to set their own warranty policies. In north America? Motonation’s policy is a one-year warranty with a judgment call. MOTONATION'S TIP FOR SIDI CROSSFIRE Power washing boots severely reduces the lifespan of the boot and accelerates delamination. If you own a pair of Sidi Crossfires, we are keen to hear your good and bad experiences. If there are quality control issues at Sidi's factories, we really hope they can fix these and retain their reputation as one of the best brands out there. SIDI CROSSFIRE SRS & TA PROBLEMS New pair of Sidi Crossfire 3, sole and screws fell off after 4 hours use. J.W. SRS sole, it peeled right off in a matter of hours. Bige... Crossfire 3 came apart between the toe and sole....disappointing for boots so highly regarded. J.S. The Sidi logo on my new Crossfire 3 came off the sole after three rides. P.H. SRS fell to bits... less than 30 days riding... they are about to go in the bin. Never again. G.G. Four pairs of Sidi Crossfires and I'm done. Definite decline in quality. I.R. 20 hours on them and the soles were gone. S.J. Last four pairs all needed soles regluing within a few rides. Latest ones failed after two rides... complained to Sidi, Zero response. P.H. Lost two buckles both toe caps and now the sole is split and coming apart, definitely can’t do two seasons. J.M. Spent $700, was gluing the soles back on after two rides. Buckles fell off all over the place. D.E. Had the soles coming off from my last two pairs of Crossfire SRS boots. oldb.... The soles lasted around 3 months, after replacing them twice the upper sole detached from the boot itself. B.C.
