Trying Different Fibers on My Charkha and Learning As I Go

I am still pretty new to spinning on a charkha, so this video is very much a learning experiment as I try spinning different fibers to see what actually works. I usually see charkhas used for spinning cotton, but I started wondering what would happen if I tried spinning other fibers on mine. So I set up a little experiment. In this video I try spinning several different fibers on my charkha, including cotton sliver, wool combed top, dizzed alpaca, tussah silk, and sari silk. Some of them spin beautifully, and others… not so much. I am still learning this tool, so this is very much a process video and a chance to explore what works, what doesn’t, and how fiber preparation changes the experience of spinning.
