There they gave him a dinner. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was with him at the table. Mary took a pound of expensive, genuine nard perfume, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, the one who was to betray him, said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?" He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; and since he had the money bag, he helped himself to what they were throwing out. Jesus said, "Leave it alone; I have kept it for the day of my burial. For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me." A crowd of Jews learned that he was there and came, not only for Jesus' sake, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. The chief priests decided to kill Lazarus as well, because many Jews, because of him, were going away and believing in Jesus. Word of the Lord. Three Messages from Today's Gospel: 1. For one who loves much, it is little. 2. For one who does not love, little is much. 3. The demon that attacks the mind. Commitment: confess to a priest.
