THIS Ain't THAT! Kevin G. Swann Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV In Part 2 of The Best Gifts for My Best Life, Pastor Kevin G. Swann returns to Matthew 2 and reminds us that the magi didn’t enter the room giving first. They worshiped first. Then they opened their treasures and presented gifts to honor the true King. After unpacking gold last week, this message focuses on the second gift: frankincense. Frankincense was rare, costly, and known for its fragrance when it was burned. In Scripture, it points to the divinity of Jesus, the worship He deserves, and the prayers of the saints rising to God like a sweet-smelling aroma. Pastor teaches that a frankincense-level gift is giving Jesus our complete devotion and honor. Not half-hearted worship. Not distracted praise. A life that is fully surrendered, where our worship “fills the room” and our prayer life carries spiritual fragrance. To illustrate what devotion looks like, Pastor walks through John 12 and the moment Mary breaks open her jar of pure nard at Jesus’ feet. While others questioned the cost, Jesus defended her worship. This sermon will challenge you to stop letting “Judas voices” define your praise, and instead give God what He is worthy of, even when it looks expensive, messy, or misunderstood. Key Points The magi worshiped before they gave; worship is the proper response in God’s presence. Frankincense represents Jesus’ divinity, worship, and prayer. Prayer is a sweet-smelling fragrance to God, and He delights when we come to Him first. A frankincense-level gift is complete devotion and honor. Mary’s worship in John 12 shows what it looks like to “break the jar” and give God your best. Don’t let “Judas spirits” silence your praise or minimize your worship. Declarations Jesus is worthy of my complete devotion. My worship will not be restrained by opinions around me. My prayer life will rise like a sweet fragrance to God. I will give God honor for who He is, not only for what He does. I will break the jar and offer Jesus my best. Scripture Matthew 2:1–11 John 12:1–8 Revelation 5:8 Exodus 30:34–35 New here?
