Welcome to this (subtitled) tutorial video! We’re going to talk a bit more about colour palettes. I stick to the same colour palette mostly for a couple of years, and as you could see in my latest art journals I worked mainly with green. Green Gold and Buff titanium were my favourite colours. I don’t make big changes in that. (If you'd like to buy me a coffee, please use this link, I'd truly appreciate your support! https://buymeacoffee.com/luzartworks ) But now I’m going through a big change! Blue has slowly grown into my work. Maybe it has to do something with the blue Dina Wakley media journal. From working in my art journals my colour palette slowly changes, and it works through in my paintings. It just happens and I can’t say what’s the reason. It’s just going into a kind of new period in my life. Blue is calming. It’s also a cold colour so it works best if you mix it with a contrasting or warm colour, like red, rusty brown, brown or maybe pink. Tips: Go to the hardware store and look at the colour swatches for painting a wall Buy some new colours acrylic paint, I am a huge fan of Paynes Grey, powder blue and Greyish Blue Make colour swatches yourself to see what works Making a colour swatch 1. Take a piece of paper (300 gr mixed media) 2. Put some colours on a palette, I also go for some neutrals to desaturate and a contrast colour 3. Start with a lighter colour and add some colour to it 4. Add a little more of the darker colour to it, and make different tones of the same colour 5. Do this again, but with another colour 6. Make strange blends of colours that you don’t expect to go well together 7. Make pairs or take some colours out that are the perfect combinations I used the Flexa paint app to find my colours.
