But if the Panduranga Mala falls, it cannot be worn. Only two days in every month are suitable for Maladharana. They are Shukla Ekadashi and Krishna Ekadashi days. On those two days, devotees from Telugu states, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka also come to Untakallu village to wear the Panduranga mala. Sri Panduranga temple is situated in 'Untakallu' near Bommana Halu area near Rayadurgam in Anantapur district. All of them here are devotees of Pandu Rangani. Those who used to go to Pandaripuram to visit Ranga have now built their own temple for Ranga. Those who are addicted to alcohol come to this temple and wear Panduranga Mala, they will not come back in another life. In those two days thousands of people come not only from our state but also from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Those who want to wear panduranga mala should go to the temple with a token of one hundred rupees. Pujas and bhajans are being performed in the presence of Swami in the temple from midnight the previous day. Those who want to perform Maladharana should come to the temple after bathing early in the morning and stand in line according to the token number given to them. The head priest of the temple puts Panduranga malas around the necks of all. For those two days, the villagers provide free food and accommodation to all the devotees who come to the village to offer mala. No money is taken here for any other purpose except 100 rupees for token. Those who have performed Maladharana should come to Untakallu village and sleep on three consecutive Ekadashi days. After completion of three ekadashas the mala should be removed. He said that there is no record of those who wore panduranga mala in Untakallu having touched alcohol again.
