A village called Mamaka in Tonkolili District, Northern part of Sierra Leone, is over 1000 population, Mamaka is a village with a culture that is practiced all this time looking to reestablish it right in agriculture. Rural Development allows for the improvement of rural communities, in the area of quality of life and to prevent repositioning of regions affected by rural migration. Economic stability achieved through actions within the rural areas and driven by agriculture is fundamental for the growth of a nation. Seeing is believing, field visitation demonstrates the most effective mode to convincing farmers about the benefit of agriculture and rural development. Mr. Ahmed Muckson Sesay, a farmer in Mamaka village and beyond, keeping pace with his ever-increasing numbers in agriculture and ensuring food security for Mamaka people and the nation at large. To him, he said that the growth of economy is essential to many farmers in Mamaka village and farming is keeping pace with-it ever-increasing number to ensuring food security in the community. Findings According to old hands of Agriculture, cities and civilizations have elevated because crops and animals could now be farmed to meet demand, the global population rocketed—from some five million people 10,000 years ago, to more than seven billion today. It is also said that, The goal of A & R D is to improve the resilience, livelihoods and food security of small-scale farmers in rural communities, particularly youth and women. Madam Isatu M. Kamara - "The reach payment of green revolution of the 1960s and notwithstanding today, in Sierra Leone, as much as 30% of the crops is lost due to bush burning, pest and diseases." Developing countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Gambia are increasingly confronted to lot of challenges related to agriculture and rural development: In reducing poverty through rural development strategies and supporting the main driving forces for economic growth and social development in rural areas. We must Enhancing food security. Enhancing agricultural productivity and farmer’s incomes. Developing infrastructure and access to water. Promoting sustainable agriculture. Also, it is extremely important to improve the efficiency of resource that fosters stronger links between farmers and markets, promote R&D in the sector.
