We are here today with the folks who bring to life Patrick Henry and his famous "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" speech, which was delivered in St. John's Church, Richmond, VA, on March 23, 1775. St. John’s Church was the church of the crown, and the largest building in town. It held approximately 120 delegates from across the colony of Virginia. In the audience during Henry’s speech were George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Richard Henry Lee, Edmund Pendalton, and Payton Randolph, among others. And nearly of the audience members were British sympathizers. Each year, a cast of nine actors regularly re-enact a portion of the second Virginia Convention that was held here in the church. With us now is Charles Wissinger, the casting director and local actor who knows 8 out of the 9 parts — and often portrays Patrick Henry. Also we are here with Sarah Whiting, executive director of the St. John’s Church Foundation: http://historicstjohnschurch.org. This is David Bruce Smith, founder of the Grateful American Foundation — and I’m Hope Katz Gibbs, the foundation’s executive producer. Don't miss this interesting interview!
