Exploring Dead River Park in Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve

Exploring in Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve at an area known as Dead River Park. It is an area located near the Hillsborough River. A nice secluded wilderness here with some interesting history. During the mid-1900's there was once a small community here known as "Dead River" with cabins and a fish camp it was a nice retreat for many who came here to get away from it all. Old homesteads and ranches dotted the landscape here. Exploring through the woods here you can get a sense of that as it is so peaceful with many scenic views of the hardwoods, swamps and river. I hiked along the forest roads here and some trails as well searching for traces from the past. It is a great area for fishing, biking and hiking. I noticed a group campsite off one of the trails by the river as well. Exploring here takes you back to old Florida, Enjoy the adventure and thank you!
