This is part 2 of a two-part video covering the construction of a "flying squirrel" shaped tobacco pipe from a briar burl. Part 1 can be found here: • Making a Flying Squirrel Briar Pipe - part 1 This video covers the shaping and sanding of the burl, bending the stem, staining the stummel, and final polishing and waxing. The pipemaking supplies in this video were purchased from Vermont Freehand, which I have found to be an excellent source for getting this kind of stuff (briar burl, stems, Delrin rod, bowl bits, etc.). If you're new to pipemaking (like I am), "PIMO's Guide to Pipe Crafting at Home" is a great book to start with, and it's also available at Vermont Freehand. I don't have any endorsement deal with VF - I'm just a happy customer.
