In Aikido Yokomen'uchi is a general attack coming to the side of the head. It can simulate a hook, a knife attack or even a strike with a baseball bat coming from the side. Iriminage is a technique in which we align with the attacker's direction - entering behind him and looking in the same direction as he is looking - before we move our arm around his center line and project him taking a step forward. Irimi refers actually to this forward step and nage means projection. We can finish this technique with uke descending backwards to the ground, or the uke can turn around into a forward roll.
