It's a battle royale review of higher-proof/overproof Tequilas as I try to squeeze in a really long video before the summer heat retakes Chicago. (Scotch malt drinkers and rum drinkers are pretty used to cask strength or overproof bottlings, but in Tequila they're still hard to find.) Everyone wins, except maybe Mezcal and definitely all the Tequilas bottled at 40% or lower. To my surprise I don't knock over any of the bottles. Stats: -Tapatio 110 Blanco (La Alteña NOM 1139, Los Altos, Lot TB110-16 09/07/2018, 55% ABV), 88/100. -Don Fulano Blanco 100 Proof (Tequileña NOM 1146, Los Valles w/agave from Los Altos, Lot 008DFB19, Bot. 896, Non Chill Filtered, 50% ABV), 87/100. -Chamucos Diablo Blanco (Casa de Piedra NOM 1586, Los Valles w/agave from Los Altos, likely bottled in 2018, 55% ABV), 85/100. -Fortaleza Blanco Still Strength (Los Abuelos NOM 1493, Los Valles, Lot 12-5, 46% ABV), 85/100. -Casa Noble Joven (La Cofradia NOM 1137, Los Valles, Barrel 1082, 288 btls, 51% ABV), 86+/100. (After-the-fact note: when I went back to stock up on a few of these after making this video, two of these - the Tapatio and CN - had been abandoned to the closeout section. By contrast, the Patron Silver chunk of the Tequila shelf had a serious dent in it. This is why we don't get nice things.)
