EPS [2]:: TRANSFORM FROM MONOCULTURE TO PERMACULTURE🇿🇦

The second episode of our series concentrates on identifying the land degradation and investigating potential solutions. Additionally, it highlights the transition from monoculture to permaculture, utilizing basic knowledge of permaculture principles and ethics. Initially, we made the mistake of hiring a tractor to plough land and plant corn, which proved a heavy feeder. Subsequently, we planted annual crops following traditional practices, but pest issues revealed that our farming system was flawed. It was not until we adopted permaculture methods and started addressing crisis by mowing weeds instead of ploughing and tilling that we began to see improvements. We gained a deeper understanding of our climate and intergraded invasive species and native species to promote diversity. We also developed a fertilizer system using compost, vermi-compost, and other organic matter. This episode further demonstrates our ability to harvest seeds from our own crops. Our goal in producing this episode is to inspire industrial agriculture to adopt alternative methods of food production, encouraging them to work in harmony with nature.
