Resident Evil, originally released in Japan as Bio Hazard (バイオ ハザード), is a survival horror videogame developed and released by Capcom for the PlayStation and the Sega Saturn, in 1996. The game introduces Resident Evil series mainstays Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as members of an elite task force known as S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Squad). At the start of the game, players select one of the two as they investigate the disappearance of their fellow team members on the outskirts of Raccoon City, and become trapped in an old mansion infested with zombies and genetically mutated monsters. I was nine years old, playing this stuff secretly from my parents on our Sega Saturn console, back in 1998. Remembering those days... Can't tell what hyper-feelings of serenity and composure I was getting inside the "Safe Rooms". This priceless moment, escaping those extraneous frightful nightmares for a while, listening to the melody, and saving the game... remaining silent, safe and warm in front of the screen, feeling like a harmless embryo in the uterus, ah... every second was halcyon in a strange inconceivable way of mind and body calmness.
