I've had this radio for a year and the previous owner had problems with it where we didn't really lose Lower Side Band well he wasn't real specific about the problems that he had he just said it had problems. so I got it for pretty cheap and I've been struggling to figure out what was wrong with it for about a year. it wasn't until they actually studied the schematic and the service manual that I realized what part of the board was responsible from changing lower to Upper sideband. after I studied that part I realized that was probably where the problem was happening. however I use the radio for almost a week without a single problem and then all the sudden it cut out and so I carefully took the cover off the radio without trying to move it too much and busted out my test equipment. that's when I saw that the bfo frequency was absent on lower sideband but present on upper. so I knew that the issue was in that area and I pushed on the board near that area and it suddenly came back to life. I could literally push on it back and forth and make it come and go. somebody decided today we would take the radio apart and test out my new desoldering station and Reflow the board underneath.
