It was another busy day for M15 & F23! M15 is on a roll with food deliveries for F23 - he must sense something is going to happen soon! He brings the first fish early in the morning & F23 claims in and eats on the nest! We know that F23 does not usually eat on the nest in the off season so she may be gravid (with egg) & is choosing to spend more time on the nest. Thirteen minutes later, M15 brings a 2nd fish to the nest & F23 will claim it and eat it on the nest too! She will then head to the pond for sips and foot soaks. While she is at the pond, M15 brings a THIRD fish to the nest (a catfish head - not an armored catfish) - he sees F23 at the pond so he leaves the fish gift on the nest & flies over there. M15 & F23 mate at the pond and then F23 will take a bath. She will fly to DSPS to dry her wings afterwards and then back to the nest and she sees the 3rd fish gift laying there! She grabs it and takes this one to the office oak to eat!! Thank you for watching! 📌 One year ago, F23 laid her first egg on Nov 8th 2024. We are now watching for the signs of her egg laying behavior. Some of the common signs we have recently observed is the fact both M15 & F23 has brought in a considerable amount of soft grasses, moss & nesting material, their frequency of mating has increased, M15 has been bringing daily & sometimes multiple food deliveries for F23 & F23 is now spending more time in the nest tree then she usually does. This all points to her laying her first egg soon! Keep watching F23!
